Your Responsibilities
- Determine project scope, develop a preliminary plan of investigation, and determine project specifications such as cost, time, and sample requirements by analyzing client input, available supplemental data, and product construction.
- Projects may include travelling to witness/oversee execution of tests at client or TÜV SÜD sites.
- Perform Product component evaluation/confirmation at client or TÜV SÜD sites.
- Perform/oversee and monitor product assessments to applicable requirements.
- Conduct technical file reviews utilizing analytical skills and technical knowledge, record the review findings, and prepare the client report; all in a timely manner.
- Review product design, engineering, and manufacturing while documenting any deficiencies.
- Acting as principal intermediary between the client and the operating areas, from the beginning to the end of both single discipline and one-stop projects.
- Communicate with the clients about technical issues and the progress of the review.
- Maintain proficiency on global regulatory requirements and develop and maintain rapport with regulatory reviewers and project team members.
- Work with minimal supervision and be able to assess compliance to the regulatory requirements.
- Analyze complex regulatory requirements and make sound determinations of the proper course of action.
- Collect and document data in accordance with applicable test procedures and requirements. (In the form of a Test Report Form, analyze Test Data Sheets, graphical information, or others as defined by applicable project scope).
- Ensure project timelines are adhered to, by completing work within the time allocated.
- Written and oral communication must be delivered in a prompt and effective manner to internal and external customers which includes but not limited to; answering technical questions, relaying messages and providing information related to standards and test procedures, communicating with engineers performing testing.
- Assist with review and preparation of passive propagation, external short circuit, overcharge, over discharge, over temperature, various cycling requirements, drop testing, roll over, thermal shock, immersion, crush, post-test tear down, and other relevant tests on industrial electric vehicles and energy storage systems.
- Follow testing standards, such as EN/IEC/UL 62368, EN/IEC/UL 61010, EN/IEC/UL 60335
- Maintain confidentiality of customers, test products, and appropriate internal information.
- Lead meetings with clients to discuss project updates and test-specific issues, if applicable.
- Innovate existing and develop new testing techniques and procedures
- Ensure consumable materials comply with applicable requirements
- Perform Project reviews and conduct testing as needed
- Maintain confidentiality of customers, products tested, and appropriate internal information
- Ensure compliance with established work standards and practices, including the use of all required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Keep abreast of present and future product requirements, test procedures, instrumentation, technology and TÜV SÜD Engineering service capabilities by internal training sessions, external seminars and reading of technical articles.
- Adhere to all TÜV SÜD policies and procedures.
Your Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent with experience combination
- In-depth knowledge of national and international electrical product safety standards; preferably standards associated with electric vehicle charging, batteries, energy storage systems, etc.
- Minimum of 5 years working in a laboratory conducting electrical safety testing.
- Knowledge of applicable standards committees.
- Good familiarity with many types of test equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Project management experience is desirable.
- Self-starter with a positive outlook and motivated attitude.
