OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Technical Lead - Electrical Safety is responsible for leading the technical excellence, operational performance, and growth of the Electrical Safety department. This role provides technical direction and mentorship to a team of engineers and specialists, ensuring the delivery of high-quality testing, evaluation, and certification services that meet regulatory requirements and customer expectations.
Working closely with the Site Manager, the Technical Lead drives project execution, and continuous improvement initiatives to achieve operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and business objectives. The successful candidate serves as a trusted technical expert, supports business development activities, and fosters a culture of collaboration, innovation, and professional growth while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and integrity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide support to Sales staff in preparing quotations.
- Participating in customer kickoff calls advise the client of any necessary test modes or conditions that must be met to properly test their equipment.
- Review and approve test reports for projects executed by other engineers.
- Assist in training less experienced technical staff.
- Stay up to date with current product standards, test procedures, instrumentation, and technology by participating in internal training sessions, attending webinars, and reading technical articles.
- Serve as a primary technical resource and escalation point for Electrical Safety-related customer and internal technical matters
- Actively participate in all internal and external audits and support Scope Expansion efforts.
- Assist in coordination, scheduling and support of lab activities (such as calibrations and verifications).
- Aptitude and knowledge of Electrical Safety certification for different product categories, such as Industrial Products, ITE, Household and others
- Guide the technical strategy and development of the Electrical Safety team
- Work with the team to identify and implement technical innovations
- Support successful project execution through effective technical planning, prioritization, collaboration, and communication
- Contribute to maintaining an organized, safe, and efficient laboratory workspace
- Promote operational consistency, accountability, and effective communication within the laboratory environment
- Good knowledge of laboratory test and measurement equipment including but not limited to; Environmental simulation, Dielectric and Insulation Testers, analyzers, data logging equipment, energy measurement.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Develop and mentor junior engineers through technical coaching, project guidance, and structured knowledge sharing
- Support the growth of technical competency and independent execution capability within the Electrical Safety team
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, technical standardization, and operational efficiency

- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Demonstrated experience of Product Safety Standards, such as (not limited to): UL/IEC 60335-1, UL/IEC 61010-1, UL/IEC 62368-1, UL 60730-1, UL 60601-1
- Ability to make technical decisions and engineering judgments independently.
- Proven track record in managing complex engineering projects and leading cross-functional teams.
- Must be self-motivated with organizational and time management skills.

EDUCATION:
- Engineering Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or equivalent experience
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum four (4) years of Electrical engineering experience in product testing and certification, (6-8) years preferred.
- Knowledge of North American and European product safety regulations
- Demonstrate knowledge in the use of relevant test equipment.
- Customer focused, possess good communications skills, work well in a team environment, take direction positively, and contribute to the group.
- Self-directed, improvement minded, and problem solver.
- Communicate in a courteous and effective manner with internal and external customers in all circumstances including answering questions, relaying messages, and providing information regarding standards, test procedures, technical recommendations for compliance and certification requirements.
- Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
