Business Unit Head - Sustainability Services, South Asia

TÜV SÜD is strengthening its leadership position in Sustainability and Climate Services globally. South Asia is a strategic growth market driven by evolving regulations, rising corporate sustainability commitments, and global supply-chain requirements.

The Business Unit Head – Sustainability Services, South Asia will hold full P&L ownership and will be responsible for building, scaling, and governing TÜV SÜD’s Sustainability Services business in South Asia. The role integrates commercial sand sales leadership, operational and delivery excellence, senior-level regulatory and government engagement, ensuring alignment with TÜV SÜD’s global sustainability vision.

This senior leadership role will proactively translate emerging policy and market mechanisms into scalable services and strategic partnerships across South Asia

Your Tasks

 

1. Business Leadership & P&L Ownership

  • Full ownership of P&L for Sustainability Services in South Asia, including revenue growth, margins, cost management, and long-term profitability.
  • Define and execute multi-year growth strategy aligned with TÜV SÜD South Asia 2030 targets and Global Sustainability roadmap.
  • Drive portfolio expansion across assurance, verification, advisory, and sustainability transformation services.

 

2. Market Growth & Sales

  • Lead sales and market development for Sustainability Services, including:
    • Climate Services (bilateral carbon transactions, corporate GHG inventory and project reduction/removal verification/validation, decarbonization & CCUS programs)
    • Sustainability advisory such as environmental and social impact assessments
  • Build strategic accounts, improve win rates, pipeline visibility, and deal review rigor
  • Create ecosystem partnerships (developers, platforms, financiers, industry bodies) to originate and structure sustainability opportunities.
  • Drive sales and cross-selling within TÜV SÜD service lines, and strategic partnerships.

 

Operations, Delivery & Quality Excellence

  • Own end-to-end delivery responsibility across South Asia, ensuring TÜV SÜD’s standards of quality, impartiality, and technical excellence.
  • Ensure on-time, compliant, and high-quality execution of sustainability projects with zero major customer complaints.
  • Ensure accreditation-grade delivery e.g. ISO 14065 / 17029 without non-conformities and with on-time completion requirements.
  • Optimize capacity and utilization models for assessors/auditors; implement delivery playbooks and operational KPIs.

 

4. Regulatory & Climate Leadership

  • Lead TÜV SÜD South Asia’s regulatory and government engagement for sustainability: ministries, SEBI, industry bodies.
  • Track and anticipate regulatory and market mechanism changes (CCTS, Article 6, CBAM, ISSB) and convert into services and go to market
  • Ensure compliance with climate-related regulations and ESG disclosure requirements.
  • Represent TÜV SÜD as decarbonization leader in consultations/working groups, shape positioning and safeguard accreditation and credibility.

 

5. Global & Matrix Collaboration

  • Align with Global Sustainability Business Unit on methodology, innovation initiatives, MRV frameworks and assurance standards; ensure consistent global-to-local implementation
  • Work closely with the Group CSO Office to ensure alignment with global methodologies, innovation initiatives, and sustainability frameworks.

 

6. Leadership, Governance & Culture

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing multidisciplinary team across sales, technical experts, auditors, and operations.
  • Embed TÜV SÜD values of safety, integrity, impartiality, compliance, and excellence.
  • Establish high-clarity operating rhythms, decision rights and performance standards

 

Your Qualifications

 

  • Engineering / Environmental Science / Sustainability / MBA or equivalent
  • Sustainability or ESG certifications are an advantage.
  • 12+ years of leadership experience in TIC, sustainability, certification, or consulting.
  • Demonstrated success in running a business unit with P&L accountability.
  • Strong experience balancing sales growth and operational excellence in a matrix organization.
  • Carbon markets proficiency: project origination and development, bilateral transactions, MRV processes, VCM standards (Verra/ GoldStandard), Article 6/ITMOs
  • Government & regulatory engagement experience; consultation /working group contributions
  • Exposure to global frameworks (SBTi, TCFD/ISSB, GRI) preferred and supply-chain decarbonization.
