Role Overview:
As a Field Sales Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth and expanding our client base. This is a senior position requiring a proactive, results-driven professional who can lead by example, mentor junior team members, and represent the company as a trusted advisor in machinery safety compliance.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers focussing on key decision makers to ensure long-term partnerships.
- Promote and sell the company’s current portfolio of services, ensuring alignment with customer needs and procurement cycles.
- Have a consultative approach to selling. Understand client needs and propose tailored solutions that meet customer needs.
- Use best business development practice to identify, pursue and secure new business opportunities within manufacturing, engineering and industrial sectors.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activity and regulatory changes to inform current and future business strategy.
- Represent the company at industry events, tradeshows, and conferences, delivering talks and presentations to showcase expertise and build brand authority.
- Act as a role model for sales activities, providing guidance, support and best practices.
- Develop and maintain a strong online presence (on LinkedIn) to network, share industry insights and enhance the company’s visibility.
- Translate customer insights into actionable intelligence to inform product development, R&D priorities, and investment planning.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align business strategy with anticipated market demand.
- Maintain a pipeline of qualified opportunities and support the development of capture strategies and proposals.
Essential Criteria:
- Strong understanding of machinery safety standards (PUWER, CE marking & ISO standards).
- Understanding of digital solutions for industrial environments.
- Understanding of services relating to OT cybersecurity.
- Understanding of new and upcoming industries (e.g. data centres, critical infrastructure & AI).
- A proven track record in field sales, demonstrating the ability to build relationships and win large scale projects with major companies.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
- A confident public speaker with experience presenting at industry events or at client meetings.
- A strong ability to manage CRM systems, track opportunities and maintain accurate sales forecast.
- Proficiency in identifying and qualifying new opportunities through research, networking and digital channels.
- Strong negotiation skills and understanding of pricing models for technical services.
- Experience working with internal teams to deliver tailored solutions.
- Self-motivated, target driven and able to work independently and with as a team.
- Must be willing to work independently and collaboratively from home and from TUV SUD’s machinery office.
- Must be willing to travel extensively at a national and regional level.
- Must hold a valid UK driving license.
