Introduction

We are looking for a Senior Database Platform Engineer & Architect who combines strong hands-on expertise in enterprise database environments with strategic, forward-looking architectural responsibility. This role is designed as a hybrid role: owning and shaping the database platform landscape while being able to implement and validate solutions hands-on. 

Tasks:

• Define, evolve, and implement the database platform architecture (on-premises and cloud, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure). 
• Design and maintain High Availability and Disaster Recovery concepts for critical database systems. 
• Drive modernization, standardization, automation, and cloud readiness of database platforms. 
• Actively implement and maintain core platform components and tooling where required. 
• Own and further develop central services such as database monitoring, license management, and server models. 
• Provide deep technical expertise for complex incidents and architectural challenges. 
• Steer and technically lead external service providers and vendors, including Oracle and Microsoft. 
• Embed security-by-design principles and work closely with IT Security, Infrastructure, Network, and Development teams. 
• Act as a trusted technical advisor for internal customers planning new or modernized database infrastructures. 

Qualifications:

• Senior-level experience in enterprise database environments with a hybrid focus on architecture and hands-on engineering. 
• Strong hands-on expertise with MS SQL Server; solid operational and architectural understanding of Oracle databases. 
• Experience designing and operating High Availability architectures, Backup & Recovery , monitoring solutions, and automated operations. 
• Experience or strong interest in Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud database scenarios. 
• Ability to drive topics independently, take end-to-end ownership, and think strategically. 
• Experience in steering external vendors and validating technical designs and implementations. 
• Strong security awareness and understanding of compliance and risk management in database environments. 
• Good communication and networking skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
