Position Overview
The Business Analyst plays a central role in bridging business needs and technical solutions. This position is responsible for analysing business processes, eliciting and documenting requirements, and supporting the delivery of software solutions that meet organisational objectives. The role works closely with stakeholders across business units, IT, and product teams to ensure clarity, alignment, and successful implementation of future systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse business processes, organisational structures, interfaces, and surrounding IT systems.
- Conduct gap analyses to identify optimisation opportunities.
- Methodically collect and document functional and non‑functional requirements using structured techniques.
- Translate requirements into business proposals, system proposals, Epics, User Stories and acceptance criteria.
- Identify conflicting requirements and support stakeholders in resolving them.
- Produce models, matrices, and UI concepts to support shared understanding.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and facilitate workshops (serve as the communication link between business stakeholders, product owners, and technical teams)
- Support solution evaluation and feasibility assessments: Assess customer requirements and propose alternative solutions when applicable.
- Assist developers and testers in clarifying requirements. Assist in handing over requirements to developers and testers, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Contribute to the creation of business test cases and support user acceptance testing (UAT
- Support migration concepts and rollout planning.
- Support documentation of user manuals, training materials, and introduction plans for new solution
- Participate in lessons learned workshops and continuous improvement.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong process modelling capabilities.
- Understanding of functional & non-functional requirement specification.
- Knowledge of project methodologies, Agile, Waterfall and hybrid delivery models for structured projects.
- Ability to adapt BA techniques depending on methodology used (e.g., backlog refinement in Agile, Business Requirements Document/Functional Specification Document creation in Waterfall).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong documentation capabilities including UI models and test documentation.
- Ability to adapt BA techniques depending on methodology used (e.g., backlog refinement in Agile, BRD/FSD creation in Waterfall).
- Ability to write clear, concise, testable user stories using the standard format: As a [user], I want [feature], so that [benefit].
- Creation of acceptance criteria following Gherkin (Given/When/Then) or scenario-based structures.
- Working closely with Product Owners and developers to ensure shared understanding of requirements.
- Experience using Azure DevOps for backlog management, sprint planning, and work item tracking. Using dashboards and queries in DevOps to support reporting and delivery tracking.
- Experience in business analysis within IT or software development environments.
- Background in process improvement or requirements engineering.
- Experience in Agile environments and cross-functional teams.
Qualifications
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in: Business Analysis, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Management, Engineering, Or any analytical/technical field
- Desirable: Business Analysis Certifications, Internal Institute Business Analysis (IIBA, CCBA/ CBAP), BCS Business Analysis Diploma, Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA)
- Desirable: Agile Certification - Scrum Master (CSM / PSM I), Product Owner (PSPO / CSPO)
- Desirable: Azure DevOps Fundamentals, ITIL Foundation, Data Analytics Basics
