The Consultant, Nature-based Solutions (NbS), Carbon Markets & dMRV is responsible for driving the development of high-integrity Nature-based Solutions methodologies, project pipelines, and carbon market initiatives within TÜV SÜD’s Decarbonization Centre of Excellence (CoE). The role serves as a key technical and market expert, supporting the development and deployment of digital MRV solutions, engagement with carbon standards and registries, and the incubation of scalable NbS projects aligned with emerging voluntary and compliance carbon markets. The position combines technical expertise, ecosystem development, and market engagement to strengthen TÜV SÜD’s role in high-integrity carbon markets and digital climate infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Methodology Development & Climate Integrity

• Lead the development and positioning of NbS-focused methodologies and digital MRV approaches in collaboration with technical experts and the dMRV team
• Support methodology development from concept design through stakeholder consultation and submission-ready stage
• Engage with carbon standards, registries, and independent institutions to support methodology review and adoption
• Ensure alignment with high-integrity carbon market principles, including transparency, auditability, environmental safeguards, and stakeholder engagement

Project Development & Incubation

• Conceptualize three NbS project types, including full start, incubation, launch plans, together with selected project developer teams
• Define key project design elements (baseline, additionality, monitoring design, risk and safeguards)
• Identify and develop pilot project concepts aligned with market and digital MRV requirement

Stakeholder & Registry Onboarding

• Drive onboarding of global stakeholders, including project partners, registries, and accreditation bodies
• Coordinate integration with relevant carbon registries to ensure smooth project validation and issuance
• Build and maintain a strong network within the global NbS and carbon market ecosystem

Digital MRV integration

• Translate methodological and carbon market requirements into digital MRV product and data specifications
• Support the design and implementation of end-to-end digital MRV workflows covering monitoring, reporting, verification, safeguards, and stakeholder processes
• Collaborate closely with technology teams to ensure practical implementation of digital solutions within carbon projects

Key Requirement

• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences, Forestry, Ecology, Climate Science, or a related field
• Proven experience in working with international stakeholders and global project environments
• Structured and analytical working approach with strong problem-solving skills
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in Nature-based Solutions, carbon markets, climate finance, carbon project development, or related fields
• Strong expertise in carbon methodologies, MRV systems, carbon standards, registries, or climate market mechanisms
• Experience with voluntary carbon markets, Article 6 mechanisms, carbon removals, or international climate programs
• Proven experience working with international stakeholders, governments, standards bodies, registries, or development institutions

Nice to have

• Experience with organizations such as UNFCCC, Verra, Gold Standard, ACR, ART, World Bank, IFC, UNDP, GGGI, or similar institutions
• Experience with digital MRV (dMRV), climate technology solutions, or data-driven verification approaches
• Familiarity with Article 6 mechanisms or compliance carbon markets
• Experience in verification, assurance, or TIC environment
