Head of Payroll

The position is full-time and will be based in our People department in Darmstadt, starting March 1, 2026.

What we offer

• Leading the payroll team
• Ensuring that monthly payroll is processed correctly and on time
• Monitoring and implementing legal, collective agreement, and company requirements
• Continuously optimizing existing processes and promoting further digitalization
• Supporting and further developing the payroll system used (SAP HCM)
• Responsibility for communication and cooperation with health insurance companies, tax authorities, and other external institutions
• Performing tasks in personnel controlling
• Cooperation with the employers' liability insurance association, the office for the severely disabled, and state statistical offices
• Main contact person for income tax and social security audits as well as internal audits
• Responsibility for pension funds, support funds, and direct insurance
• Cooperation with auditors on audit-related issues
• Responsibility for planning and controlling personnel costs

Your profile

• Completed degree in business administration with a focus on human resources, finance, or a comparable qualification
• Several years of professional experience in payroll accounting
• Very good knowledge of income tax, social security, and labor law
• Confident use of SAP HCM and, ideally, experience with digital HR processes and modern reporting tools (possibly also SuccessFactors)
• Proven experience in the technical and organizational management of a team
• C1 level German language skills and good English language skills
• Strong analytical skills, high affinity for numbers, and understanding of payroll-related issues
• Structured, reliable, and solution-oriented approach to work
• High degree of independence, flexibility, and hands-on mentality
• Strong communication skills and a confident manner when dealing with internal and external stakeholders
• Ideally, experience in dealing with auditing authorities (income tax, social security institutions, auditors) and with
  company pension schemes
• Willingness to adjust working hours to the workload as required
