This is a multi disciplined support role in the Stores and Operations team, assisting in delivering services to our Operations colleagues.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To provide administrative cover for the warehouse stores and material control process at Octagon House, including the booking in, shipping and tracking of customer samples.
- Help with the receipt of goods items and associated housekeeping of stores at Octagon House as required.
- To provide front-of-house reception cover during periods of absence – greet customers, assist with the booking in process and to contact and inform the relevant hosts of visitor arrival.
- General computer-based administration.
- General routine fire alarm, security and facilities safety duties as required.
- Handling of (sometimes) heavy and delicate equipment/items
- Regular stock takes of storeroom and department areas
- Assisting engineers/technicians with stock-related issues (locating equipment etc)
- Collating equipment when needed by others (Calibration, Bearley)
- Keeping track of test equipment via business systems and logbooks
- Help maintain equipment (cleaning, checking for damage/faults)
- Ensuring supplies are kept up to suitable levels (connectors, cables, cleaning products, etc.)
- Supporting test equipment going to and from Calibration
Essential Criteria:
- Previous experience working within a stores, goods in/out or logistics environment
- Ability to work as part of a team under varying levels of service delivery pressure
- Clear and professional communication skills to liaise with customers, drivers, suppliers, internal teams, and couriers.
- Common sense and ability to use initiative
- Proficient use of IT
- Competence in safe manual handling techniques and willingness to undertake physical tasks such as lifting, moving, and palletising goods
- Problem‑solving mindset when dealing with missing items, incorrect deliveries, or urgent dispatch needs.
Desirable Criteria:
- Recent customer service experience, with the ability to provide customer focused solutions
- Forklift License
