Head of Technical and Engagement , Carbon Management is responsible for the strategic and technical leadership, methodological development, and external positioning of the Carbon Management portfolio within the global Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Singapore.
The role combines deep expertise in carbon markets, climate strategy, and carbon management with strong stakeholder engagement, solution development, and market-facing activities. The position is responsible for driving the development of innovative carbon management solutions, supporting the commercialization of CoE offerings, fostering strategic partnerships, and positioning TÜV SÜD as a trusted partner for governments, industry, financial institutions, and international organizations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Leadership – Carbon Management
- Overall technical responsibility for all carbon management-related activities within the CoE (including carbon accounting, MRV, nature-based solutions, supply chain emissions, and Article 6–aligned approaches)
- Development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of methodologies, frameworks, and technical guidelines in alignment with international standards and best practices
- Technical leadership and mentoring of experts within the Technical & Engagement Office
- Support the development of market-oriented carbon management solutions and service offerings aligned with client needs and emerging market opportunities
2. Technical Engagement & Stakeholder Interface
- Develop and maintain relationships with key clients, project developers, investors, registries, governments, and strategic partners.
- Active participation in international expert panels, working groups, and consultation processes
- Guide and supervise business development activities, proposal development, and client engagement related to carbon management services
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships for the joint development and piloting of carbon management approaches
- Represent the CoE in workshops, conferences, and bilateral engagements
3. Integration with dMRV & Digital Solutions
- Closely collaborate with the dMRV platform development team to translate carbon management requirements into digital MRV solutions
- Define technical requirements for data models, methodologies, and validation logics
- Support pilot projects and proof-of-concepts for the digital implementation of carbon management solutions
4. Capacity Building & Knowledge Transfer
- Design and deliver capacity-building programs for internal and external audiences (e.g., public authorities, companies, partners)
- Develop training materials, technical guidelines, and educational concepts
- Collaborate with academic partners on curriculum development, as well as research and development projects
- Ensure systematic knowledge transfer within the CoE and across the global organization
5. Thought Leadership & Method Development
- Take responsibility for white papers, technical publications, and position papers in the field of carbon management
- Identify relevant trends, regulatory developments, and technological innovations
- Support the Head of Global CoE in positioning the CoE as a thought leader in high-integrity carbon management
6. Program & Portfolio Contribution
- Contribute technical expertise to the definition, prioritization, and evaluation of CoE initiatives
- Collaborate with the PMO to ensure robust, technically sound milestones and deliverables
- Contribute to the identification, development, and prioritization of new business opportunities and strategic partnerships.
- Support the translation of technical expertise into scalable consulting, assurance, and digital service offerings
Key Requirement
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Sciences, Economics, or a comparable field
- Minimum 8 years of relevant professional experience in carbon management, decarbonization, climate strategy, or related fields
- Deep expertise in carbon accounting, carbon markets, or climate-related standards and methodologies
- Experience working with governments, regulators, or international institutions and senior decision-makers
- Demonstrated experience in client engagement, solution development, business growth, or management of climate-related consulting and advisory services
- Experience in working in the Asia-Pacific region and regional client engagement
Nice to Have
- Experience with Article 6 mechanisms, international carbon standards, voluntary carbon market, or digital MRV systems
- Background in standard-setting, auditing, or validation/verification
