IT Application Administrator ITSM

We are looking for a committed and service-oriented Application Administrator to support the stable operation and continuous improvement of our IT service management platform. In this hands-on role, you will focus on day-to-day application administration, user support, data quality, interfaces, testing, and coordination with internal stakeholders and the software provider. You will work closely with the existing internal ITSM experts, who retain primary responsibility for ITSM process design and governance.

 

Responsibilities

  • Support stable day-to-day operation of the ITSM application.
  • Administer users, roles, permissions, organizational assignments, and selected master data.
  • Monitor application functions, scheduled activities, imports, and interfaces, and follow up on identified issues.
  • Analyze incidents and recurring errors, perform initial technical troubleshooting, and coordinate resolution with internal teams or the software provider.
  • Provide second-level support for key users and business users.
  • Support application releases, configuration changes, patches, and minor enhancements.
  • Prepare and execute functional tests and document test results before changes are introduced into production.
  • Maintain operating documentation, support instructions, known-error descriptions, and configuration records.
  • Assist with data quality checks, reporting requirements, and the maintenance of dashboards or evaluations.
  • Contribute operational input to the improvement of workflows and interfaces while collaborating with the internal ITSM process owners.
  • Coordinate technical topics with infrastructure, database, security, and external service providers.

Qualifications

Application Administration & Technical Skills

  • Professional experience in the administration or support of enterprise applications, business applications, or IT service management platforms.
  • Basic understanding of ITSM processes such as incident, request, change, problem, and service configuration management.
  • Practical knowledge of user, role, and permission administration.
  • Basic knowledge of relational databases and the ability to read or create simple SQL queries.
  • Understanding of interfaces, data imports and exports, and common integration concepts.
  • Ability to analyze application logs and systematically narrow down technical errors.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows Server and web application environments is an advantage.
  • Experience with REST or OData interfaces, JSON, XML, or CSV is an advantage.

ITSM & Application Support

  • Experience with an ITSM platform such as ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, BMC Remedy or a comparable solution is desirable.
  • Experience in second-level support and collaboration with key users, application owners, and external providers.
  • Good documentation skills and a disciplined approach to changes, tests, and operational handovers.
  • ITIL Foundation certification or comparable practical ITSM knowledge is an advantage, but not mandatory.
  • Degree in computer science, business informatics, or a comparable field, or completed vocational training with relevant professional experience.
  • Candidates with a strong application support or system administration background are equally welcome.
  • Structured and analytical problem-solving approach.

  • High reliability and documentation discipline.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Willingness to learn a specialized application and gradually take operational responsibility.
  • Collaborative mindset and confidence working in an international environment.

  • English: B2 or higher (working language)
  • German: B2 is an advantage
