Inspector - Pressure Vessels

Your Tasks

  • Perform inspections of boilers and pressure vessels to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements
  • Witness pressure tests in accordance with jurisdictional requirements
  • Conduct inspections at field and shop locations in line with ASME and National Board Codes
  • Document and report inspection results, including nonconforming conditions, following regulatory and company standards
  • Carry out Loss Control inspections and other assigned inspections in compliance with internal policies
  • Manage assigned inspection activities to meet governing codes, jurisdictional requirements, and company procedures
  • Support engineering evaluations and recommend solutions for non-compliant conditions in collaboration with internal teams and customers

Your Qualifications

  • Valid National Board or Jurisdictional Commission
  • Relevant ASME or National Board Code endorsements, as required
  • Educational background in a relevant field, such as:
    • High school diploma with technical training or apprenticeship (e.g., boilermaker, pipefitter, steamfitter)
    • Power Engineering certification or equivalent technical program
    • Military or merchant marine training in boilers, pressure vessels, or related systems
    • Certifications such as CWI, API-510, or API-570 are advantageous
    • Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, science, or mathematics is a plus
  • At least one year of experience in the pressure equipment industry (e.g., inspection, manufacturing, maintenance, engineering review, or NDE)
  • Strong understanding of applicable codes, standards, and inspection processes
  • Ability to communicate technical findings clearly in both written and verbal formats
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan work and meet deadlines
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work independently when needed

  • This is a field-based role that requires travel to customer locations
  • This is a part-time role working at least 30 hours a week and is benefit eligible
  • Physical requirements include climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, walking long distances, and standing for extended periods
