Senior Hardware Engineer, MRI Safety (TUV SUD America, Inc.; New Brighton, MN): Specific duties of the Senior Hardware Engineer, MRI Safety position are as follows: Developing and evaluating test procedures and methodologies to complete MRI safety testing of implantable medical devices; Setting up capabilities and developing and documenting test methodologies for the laboratory; Performing fixture design for MRI testing activities; Executing tests and evaluating results in the radiated environment (such as Radiated Testing, Damage Testing, and Anechoic chamber measurements, among others) for medical devices, including both active and passive implants; Performing numerical electromagnetics simulations using tools such as HFSS, COMSOL, and Sim4life to model temperature effects of MRI; Serving as a subject matter expert on electromagnetic compatibility as it pertains to MRI technology for the engineering team; Using considerable judgment, high degree of initiative, and creative approaches to troubleshoot and make recommendations for continuous improvement of work methods for functional areas; Utilizing expert knowledge and experience with working in shielded rooms (such as EMC Testing) and with oscilloscopes, function generators, vector network analyzers, amplifiers, thermometry, and multimeters, among other tools; and Utilizing familiarity with MRI safety standards for implantable medical devices, in particular ISO 10974 and ASTM 2182, in the performance of job duties.
Minimum requirements: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related Engineering field; AND 2 years of experience in an engineering role involving electromagnetics or radio frequency.
Must have: Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with working in shielded rooms (such as EMC Testing); Demonstrated experience with oscilloscopes, function generators, vector network analyzers, amplifiers, thermometry, and multimeters; Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office suite; Demonstrated ability to prioritize work by determining the sequencing and timing of different jobs based on precedence and importance; Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment; Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills; and Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter with a positive outlook and motivated attitude.
