At TÜV SÜD, the Sr. RF/EMC Engineer provides technical expertise and leadership for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing, regulatory compliance, and certification programs across commercial, industrial, medical, wireless, and consumer products. In this role, you will support complex compliance projects and collaborate with customers, laboratory teams, project management, quality, and commercial teams to deliver accurate, timely certification outcomes.

Your Tasks

• Perform EMC testing in accordance with applicable FCC, ISED Canada, IEC, EN, CISPR, ANSI C63, and other international regulatory requirements.

• Conduct radiated and conducted emissions testing and immunity testing, including ESD, EFT/Burst, Surge, Radiated Immunity, Conducted Immunity, Voltage Dips, and Interruptions.

• Develop and review test plans, procedures, test configurations, technical reports, and regulatory compliance documentation.

• Analyze test results, troubleshoot EMC failures, identify root causes, and provide technical recommendations to customers.

• Configure and operate EMC laboratory equipment, including EMI receivers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, RF amplifiers, antennas, LISNs, CDNs, ESD simulators, and immunity systems.

• Support ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation requirements, including quality procedures, method validation, measurement uncertainty, audits, and corrective actions.

• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and technicians while supporting process improvements, automation initiatives, and development of new EMC testing capabilities.

Your Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a closely related field with at least 5 years of relevant EMC testing experience, or a Master's degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience.

• Demonstrated experience with FCC, ISED Canada, CISPR, IEC 61000 Series, EN, ANSI C63, and related EMC standards and regulatory requirements.

• Strong knowledge of EMC principles, including emissions, immunity, shielding, grounding, bonding, filtering, and RF measurement techniques.

• Hands-on experience troubleshooting product compliance issues and operating EMC test instrumentation in a laboratory environment.

• Strong technical writing, data analysis, problem-solving, and customer communication skills.

• Experience working in an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratory is preferred.

• Experience with test automation tools such as Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB, or equivalent technologies is preferred.

Additional Information

• The anticipated annual base pay range for this full-time position is $90,000–$140,000. Actual base pay will be determined based on factors including relevant experience, technical expertise, education, qualifications, geographic location, and internal equity.

• Work model: On-site in San Diego, California.

• Some domestic travel may be required based on customer and business needs.
