Key Responsibilities:
- Provide operational support to maintain and enhance the traceability, accuracy, and integrity of measurement systems and calibrations used within the organisation.
- Conduct and support internal and external calibration activities, ensuring adherence to relevant metrological standards and ISO 17025 requirements.
- Assist in carrying out intercomparison activities and proficiency tests to ensure operational consistency and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Support the delivery of Flow Programme projects through accurate data analysis, uncertainty estimation, and metrological assessment of measurement processes.
- Collaborate closely with technical teams to maintain robust metrological practices and implement improvements in measurement techniques and traceability management.
- Support colleagues and operational teams by providing expertise and training in metrology, traceability, uncertainty analysis, and calibration methodologies.
- Assist with maintaining accurate records of calibration, certification, and traceability data, ensuring compliance with established quality assurance procedures.
- Support the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures and technical documentation relating to metrological processes and instrumentation.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of operating practices, calibration procedures, and traceability systems by identifying opportunities to reduce uncertainty, optimise processes, and enhance efficiency.
Essential criteria:
- Experience or demonstrable understanding of metrology, calibration techniques and measurement uncertainty analysis.
- Familiarity with flow measurement principles, traceability requirements and standards, including ISO 17025.
- Strong analytical skills, particularly in data interpretation and uncertainty estimation.
- Good working knowledge of quality assurance systems, calibration documentation and record management.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within technical teams and clearly communicate technical information to non-specialists.
- Self-motivated, with a proactive approach to developing technical competence and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations applicable to calibration and laboratory environments.
- Experience with data analysis, automation or software development using tools such as Python, MATLAB, SQL, or C# / .NET would be beneficial.
