Business Development Manager, Decarbonization

The Go-to-Market & Commercialization Manager is responsible for the market positioning, business development, and commercialization of the Decarbonization Centre of Excellence (CoE) offerings. The role acts as the bridge between innovation and market adoption, translating CoE capabilities into scalable service offerings, strategic partnerships, revenue opportunities, and  business growth. This role will work closely with technical experts, business units, and regional sales teams, the position drives client acquisition, pipeline development, market expansion, and the successful integration of CoE solutions into TÜV SÜD's global service portfolio.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Business Development & Client Acquisition

  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of strategic clients and opportunities across carbon markets, decarbonization, and digital sustainability services
  • Engage directly with clients, project developers, governments, financial institutions, and strategic partners to identify business opportunities
  • Support proposal development, bid management, and commercial negotiations
  • Contribute to achieving agreed revenue and growth targets for CoE services

 

Go-to-Market & Pipeline Development

 

  • Build and manage a global opportunity pipeline for CoE services
  • Define sales targets per capability and service area
  • Identify and prioritize high-value opportunities (e.g. Article 6 projects)
  • Support deal shaping together with Business Development and technical experts
  • Monitor market developments, competitor activities, regulatory changes, and emerging business opportunities
  • Support business planning, forecasting, and commercial performance tracking
  • Provide market intelligence to guide CoE investment and product development decisions

 

Marketing & Market Positioning

 

  • Develop and execute CoE marketing activities:
    • Thought leadership (whitepapers, insights)
    • Events and webinars
    • Stakeholder positioning (e.g. COP, global ecosystem)
  • Ensure consistent CoE narrative and market positioning

 

Commercialisation of CoE Outputs

 

  • Drive transition from pilot projects to scalable commercial services
  • Support development of business models (e.g. platform-based services, advisory offerings)
  • Enable integration of CoE services into TÜV SÜD global portfolio

 

Internal Sales Enablement

 

  • Create sales materials (pitch decks, case studies, guidelines)
  • Enable TÜV SÜD global sales teams to position and sell CoE services

 

 

Key Requirement 

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field
  • Min. 5 years of experience in business development, go-to-market strategy, commercialization, consulting, or sales within sustainability, climate, energy, digital services, or related sectors.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into compelling commercial offerings
  • Proven experience in working with international stakeholders and global markets
  • Structured, analytical mindset with strong communication skills

 

 

Nice to have

 

  • Experience with digital services or platform-based business models (e.g. SaaS)
  • Familiarity with Article 6 mechanisms or carbon market frameworks
  • Experience of working in Asia Pacific or global south
  • Background in consulting, advisory, or TIC environments
